Lying through the teeth

Don’t you dare lie to yourself

The crimson face of sunset sparks fear in you too

And when the night falls you worry about mornings too

How you wished it would be the propitious morning soon

Don’t you dare lie to yourself

Sometimes, you wish for an easier life too

You know daydreaming doesn’t make dreams come true

But remember that yesterday afternoon glow

Don’t you dare lie to yourself

That glow was not of positivity

It was just your wistful mind taking you places you have never been to

And you believe these places really do exist too!

Don’t you dare lie to yourself

You lie to the whole world with an angel face

And no one dares suspect your innocence

But you are too smart to even being lied to

Don’t you dare lie to yourself

The hard work you put in is not enough

This may be an illusion but it might be true

You can’t sit here being absolutely fooled

Don’t you dare lie to yourself

You know you care about you

Illusions can’t stay long if confronted by the truth

So, my love, don’t you dare lie to yourself.
